TIMES ARE CHANGING

The makers of this year's documenta feel a close connection to the city of Kassel and its inhabitants, and would like to express this relationship. For that reason, on the evening before the opening we will not be giving an exclusive cocktail party for invited guests. Instead, the artistic direction is planning a big party for the citizens of Kassel and all those who are interested in documenta. Together with the team and the exhibition artists as well as the many art enthusiasts from all over the world who will be pouring into Kassel for the opening events, we will be celebrating the beginning of documenta 12 in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe.

After the Landes Jugend Jazz Orchester Hessen opens the programme, and Ruth Noack and Roger M. Buergel welcome the guests, the Norwegian rock band Kaizers Orchestra will create a rollicking festival atmosphere. Then the DJ formation Cluster - pioneers of the electronic scene - will get the partygoers moving to their electronic sounds. On this evening, the Bergpark will show itself from its loveliest side, bringing the spectacle to a close with an illumination of the water gardens. The Hessischer Rundfunk has kindly agreed to organise and provide the sound for the entire event.

Following the official programme, the launch of documenta 12 will move on to Kassel's clubs, bars and discotheques, continuing into the wee hours.
